^^ Is this correct? I got a 29 year old that I thought might be a good bullpen piece, but very, very little minor league experience. I thought I would try him out at AAA (even though the system is recommending Majors) because I don't have room on my Majors roster, but if he's not going to play...

I'm not sure there is a straight cut-off. In my experience 26 year olds can still gain a decent amount of "Training" (experience is only gained in the majors). 27 year olds may also gain some training in the minors if they are very underdeveloped, but may gain Training at a faster rate just sitting on the bench in the majors. It depends. Training is gained regardless of playing time. Some guys don't get in games because they don't look good enough to the AI minor league coaches. The AI coaches also tend to give preference to younger guys in AAA. I had a 28 year old guy down last week and he didn't play a single game. But playing time doesn't drive Training gains.

BTW, I think that guy is probably maxed out already anyhow.

He may be, but I was curious to see how he did as a lefty specialist in AAA.

Not that the minor league coach would play him that way, but at least see how he does against left-handed batters for a while.

hey all, so this isn’t about an older player in the minors, but a younger one that i haven’t seen accumulating pitching stats the last several days.

could anyone give me a heads up as to why? thanks!

That is not uncommon. It just means the AI coaches don't think they are good enough to start on the random minor league teams that are created each day to emulate the minor leagues.

Vallejo has the same problem. I actually demoted him to rookie ball in 2043 just so I could get some stats on him to get some idea of his tendencies. I've found myself relying more and more on minor league stats, and its difficult with guys like this. I kind of which Steve would tweak the algorithm to ensure guys in the minors get some minimum amount of playing time. Like giving AI team choice priority to minor leaguers with few than 10 ABs in a given week.

I put in a suggestion for Steve to address the problem.

What you can *try* is demoting them to rookie to get innings. But you absolutely want to have them back at the correct level for the training update on Friday. Its a little risky. Also, I think rookie ball may not be playing too many games now, so it may not even work. Again, you can try putting him in Rookie now, just make sure he is back up in A before Friday.
