I have no intention of putting anyone with a range less than 10 in the outfield ever and I was wondering if 3B would be an option for such a player?

A 15 arm is not enough to be regularly behind the plate for me unless he makes up for it with a mighty bat. I'd train him at third and see how it goes. Also, the out of position penalty for catcher seems to be significantly less painful than it is at the hot corner, so you could move him if necessary at the major league level.
