My team has performed terribly since interconference games have started, we can only pull out one or two wins in a five game series, we were in 2nd place and less than 2-3 games back now we are closer to relegation and I wonder if the slump has something to do with the interconference play, is it a plain old team slump for no real reason, or is it something else?

It could be a slump, or it could be how your team matches up with your opponents, or it could be the ballparks. Probably some combination of all of them.

Look out for things like bad L/R matchups, teams with lots of power, or lots of base stealers. You may need to switch out your normal personnel depending on who you are playing. For instance, you may need to put in a poor hitting catcher with a gun for an arm if the team runs all over you. If they have less then 10 steals all year, you can probably sacrifice the arm and play someone who can hit at catcher.

Also pay attention to your rotation.

Did you know that the 5 game series only takes place across 4 days? That means you have guys coming in on short rest and not a full 5 games rest. If your rotation and pitch count settings are structured in a way that relies on 5 days rest and might suffer if the pitchers only get 4, that could be a contributor to the change... especially if you're the only team on your side suffering.

I've had cases where I did miserable vs the other side but so did EVERYONE on my half just because the other side was so much stronger... but if other teams are gaining ground and you're losing it... then it's probably not that.

I'd just check to make sure you can handle the double-header games and aren't having guys start not fully rested.

IMO: your team is about 3rd best in your conference, so it's not that weird that you are in 4th place. I look at a few things when making this judgment call

1) Your Avg/Obp/Slg splits. Your slugging is the reason why you are unlikely to fall victim to demotion unless you vastly under perform. your OBP split over average is 11th out of 12 teams because of both low plate discipline priority and limited high hitting threats on the lineup.

2) Starter to Setup handoff is shaky - You have quite a few 90's SP's, some of which are being used in relief. I think this is a huge reason why the handoff between starters and relievers doesn't go as smooth as it could, and where you probably are losing too high a percentage of your games. Rather than extend your setup/closer or your SP, I'd probably chase someone with double pitching skills. http://brokenbat.org/player/89964 or guys similar to this that can be brought in can probably go into MR on a low pitch count (25-30), and get you through the 6th or 7th inning more successfully than http://brokenbat.org/player/120378 who has huge defense and control but nothing else high enough to make him work for you or http://brokenbat.org/player/96881 who has two high two low skills. You could also aim towards guys like http://brokenbat.org/player/140908 if you want to develop guys in the majors to be good middle relievers, as such guys will have higher out pitching traits than they will stamina.

So long story short, improving PD at the cost of something else, and improving either your rotation's strengths or your bullpens 5th and 6th inning potential will likely be the most beneficial going forward to your success.
