Once you run a few dozen players through the process, you can start to make judgment calls on guys with a little more surety. | ||

If the gap looks small enough to fill through experience, I might consider bringing them up. Saldana for example. He has 7 power with "decent" (~14-16) scouting. 9 skill points is a lot to fill. Similarly, he has 3 fielding with no scouting (9-12). Those big gaps mean I would not consider bringing him up early. |

The game automatically recommends that all of these players go to the majors. But some of them can really benefit from more time in AAA or even AA. I have had several 25 years old players get more SI points by staying in the minors for a while during their 25 year old season. |

Its possible that they were just scouted with the wrong POT, but I actually leave a lot of my guys in AAA for a little while even after they are recommended now. I have a couple of relief pitchers in the majors now that were 23 when I was told by the game to promote them to the majors. They did not look fully ready. Dean and Campbell I am wondering if that was the right call. But those pitchers are my lower end prospects so I can experiment with them if I need to. I am rebuilding and I have more valuable releif pitchers that will promote in a season or two. I am interested in seeing how they turn out. I will learn from that.
