Should I be training him as an OF or a C with poor fielding?

I'm not sure that you actually need fielding for OF, though I'm sure someone who's been around longer will know better than me. To me, he's a potential CF, though.

Could play either one. Range will be more useful in the outfield, but it depends on your projected needs.

I've got a few similar types who all have better fielding potential ie below average or no comment rather than poor.

Is it better to put the worst fielder at C or OF?

Really it doesn't matter on that front, but it is best to put the three best ranges out of those types in the outfield, forget the fielding skill altogether for those positions.

Edit: Or the very best arm at catcher.

Yeah best arm at Catcher. The only guy I would prefer to have some fielding would be CF. Below Average is my optimal for CF, while I prefer poor/atrocious fielding for the other spots.

If you want a defensive comparison look at Ernie Lawson on my team. Poor fielding hasn't been an issue given he makes just a handful of errors and has a high FPCT, and his 18 Arm is great for throwing runners out at the plate.

Now if he could just find his bat this season...
