Broken Bat Baseball
Hi Im wondering if I should promote Victor
http://brokenbat.org/player/103645
He is 23, a 78 SI, 13 potential, and assigned at Rookie Ball
That is his recommended league but I'm wondering if I should promote him since he is such a high SI and Potential.
Should I promote him? If Yes, which minoors

78 SI isn't really high at all.

On top of that, with his exact distribution, he would get lit up by major league pitching right now. I see him as a guy who would hit .170-.180 in the majors without further growth... maybe .200 OBP at best and .250 SLG.

Normally I would said that along with that shoddy performance, he'll miss out on valuable minor league training.

However, if you read his report, he doesn't have much room for improvement so he's already a dud.

I would release him and find someone better.

Actually, since he is only 23 that means the only way he will gain any skills at all with that "He doesn't have much room for improvement." message is by keeping him at the recommended minor league level. He still could be rescued, but it will take time and patience, because he will not gain any more SI at the major league level. You keep him up and what you see right now is the best he will ever do.

He'll earn less training at a level that isn't the recommended one.

Well, considering he is currently on your major league roster, and not the rookie ball roster, it was a little confusing. Assign him to whatever level is actually recommended, it will be how he will grow fastest. I doubt he will come close to his cap by 25 when he will be auto recommended for the majors, at that point you'll be on your own.

He'll most likely be A-ball by the time he turns 25.
