Is it possible for a player's pot to change?

I've seen a few players increase there POT by 1 after their SI broke their POT boundary by 1 or 2 points. But in generally POT is pretty stable.

OK thanks because I was pretty sure one of my players was 11 pot and now he is 12 (Thompson).

Potential can also drop by a point.

An example might be a 112 dropping to a 111, so dropping from a 14 to a 13 pot. That kind of drop may look significant if you consider a range of 104-119 but that drop likely comes from arm or range being more properly scouted. So it's a rather small drop or small gain when potential changes. But it's a good thing to note because a 111 13 pot is mathematically more appealing than a 104 13 pot.

When I drafted LHP Pat Giordano he was a 14 pot. A short time later I noticed he was a 13 pot. I didn't note that when the actual change occurred. But I expect him to top out at 111. At 24 years old he is very close to that mark. He would be the best case study I can give.

Edit: Farmer, I would speculate that Thompson moved from a 95 SI to a 96. I would be very interested if he ever goes any higher than 96.

If a player is young and his scouted max SI gets more accurate, then he can drop a point in POT. For older players who are losing SI due to age, their POT doesn't drop because they still have the same max (just heading in the wrong direction developmentally).

It is possible that Thompson could still go up a point or two, but the most likely scenario is that he is now maxed.

Sun for instance increased 1 in POT when he went to 112 SI. But as you can see he hasn't developed any further and I really don't expect him to.
