Also could Taylor be a short term option at 3rd despite not being trained there?

13 POT just means they have the potential to be decent. Its important to look at the scouting report to see if they really will be good. There are a ton of 13 POT guys on FA. Most of them are there because they suck. Looking at waivers its worth looking at 13 POTs, but in FA you'll find a lot more gems in the 12 POTs because the good 13 POTs get picked up before they ever hit FA.

#1 - Playing a guy like Taylor at 3B with no experience will result in a LOT of errors.

#2 - Why did you pick up Taylor? His past performance is horrendous. He is a good example of a 13 POT that isn't worth picking up.

I'd be playing Thompson if I was in your shoes. He is a really good hitter. Not a good 3B build, but that is where he is. Unless you plan to DH him.

NM, I see you are using him as your DH.

Ramires would do better than that 1B at 3B.

Idk tried finding upgrade for Ramirez hitting wise. Then thought Taylor wasn't good. Then second guessed myself

Rock, Taylor has less than 200 at bats when his SI has been above 90. His past performance means very little. That being said, I still wouldn't expect him to be very good. Also, you are a bit misleading in saying 13 means a player should be just so-so. There are plenty of 13 stars and 14 bums. You even mention that the overall rating is a good place to start in judging a player's potential, but it's not an end all. That's the more accurate statement.

When did I say 13 POT meant a player was so-so? I said that a 13 POT guy has the POTENTIAL t be a decent player, but you have to look at their actual ratings and scout report. POT and SI totals are meaningless.

Taylor has over 202 ABs since hitting 90, in which his average is sub .190. Combined with a 7 Hitting rating, its plenty of past performance for me. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. farmer dropped him, so you can go ahead and pick him up off waivers since you like him so much Mike.

farmer - Not a bad idea to look for an upgrade for Ramires. If you are going to look for a veteran though I'd look for a guy who can already play the position.

Even with 17 fielding, the guy I'm playing at 3B is only 3b, so his fielding percentage isn't too hot. A guy with absolutely no training will make even more errors.

OK yeah I'll just selectively looking through free agents and waviers. If Ramirez keeps struggling would it pay to give Vargas a look?

I doubt Vargas will ever be a good hitter, but if the other guy is struggling, now is the time to find out.
