For example, I have this guy set up as my LHP: http://brokenbat.org/player/98221 He's had 32 at-bats vs lefties and 96 at-bats vs righties. How can I set it up so that he only faces lefties? |

Or managers that would want to play the matchup game. For now, 0 lefty relievers is a far better plan. |

Not so nice other #s. that's b/c he barely sees any LHB. his job isn't to get LHB out, it's to get them out of the game. That was slightly off-topic. Its best to use a pitch count of 0 and go loogy. Maybe pitch count of 5 if your opponent has 2 or more stacked. Updated Sunday, August 2 2015 @ 7:19:27 pm PDT |

But this isn't the desired results which is why I figured I was doing something wrong. I have both specialists set at 10 pitches yet my LHP isn't fackng lefties. Could you explain a bit more about setting a pitch count to 0 and being used as a LOOGY? Would that just be bringing in a pitcher to face one batter and then he is done? Because he exceeds the pitch count after throwing a pitch he will be removed after that batter if you have any other eligible (not injured, set to come in by that inning, enough energy, etc.) pitchers. |

When a pitcher comes in, he has to face 1 batter. If the opposition pinch hits, he gets a RHB. In that sense, BB is quite realistic. (Tho I would add most of us probably over-manage in BB, so seeing a PH is probably a little more frequent). The difficulty in BB (as FurySK pointed out) is that the exit criteria for a pitcher (pitch count / hook) isn't flexible. If your RH starter has a 100 pitch hook, and is sitting at 99 with a tough LHB coming up, your manager is going to leave the starter in. In a,way, you have to be a bit lucky for a LHS to work out for you. That said, I think they have value against some opponents. Depends on the number of LHB and the relative quality of the RHBs that pinch hit for them. Many series I assign my LHS to a different role b/c I prefer my RHP vs. their LHB. |

It seems to give my manager more options and has worked quite well. Every attempt to put a LHP as a starter has failed miserably for me, and as such I wouldn't even consider doing it unless the LHP is significantly better than my RHP options. |
