I'm trying to open up a little space in my farm system, and I'm looking at cutting one of the two catchers I have in there. I have two catchers in the majors that still have plenty of years left, so I don't think having two catching prospects is needed. I can't decide which one to cut, Morrison or Little. I'm leaning towards keeping Morrison but I'm not sure since Little is several years younger and has more time to develop further, and he has a slightly better arm.

I'm also trying to clean out my pitching prospects some to open up a couple of spots for fielding prospects, but have no idea what to do. Cesar Contreras is one that is likely to get the boot, is there any reason that he should be a keeper? The only reason I picked him up was for his stamina, as a lot of my starters are on the older side, but I'm not so sure now that was a good enough reason to sign him.

Little is the better 'catcher'. You should be training Morrison as a middle infielder, 2B or SS. Good range and arm along with outstanding fielding potential, he really is out of position as a catcher.

As far as pitchers go, I would start by dumping Rodrigues and Matsumoto without hesitation.

I think your pitching in the majors is your current weak spot and probably the only reason I was able to go 3-2 over you in our last series - You've got a couple in the minors who are close, but I'd drop: Mays, Rodrigues, Fry, and Matsumoto straight away from the pitchers, and Hartman of the position players.

Sanchez should be in the majors as a starter for the rest of this season, you might be able to squeeze some more SI out of him before he hits 31. Some of the other minor guys I'd be retraining in different positions, like Son as an OF.

I'd be getting at least 3 more pitchers for your minors, I'd suggest something like these three:

All high potential but need a bit of development - no harm in trying!

It's looking like you'll be promoting up with me at this stage, look forward to seeing how you progress with them :-)

Edit: Just had a look at your major league pitchers, there's some shockers on there! Without knowing your finances, I'd be chucking waiver claims on these guys:

And dropping Naranjo, Clemente, and Guerrero/Vincent to make room in case you get them all. Naranjo has good numbers at the moment but they're unsustainable, he'll never make it with only 9 potential.

Morrison and Little both have 12 potential, which already limits them. Morrison is projected to be outstanding in the field so he would probably be best at SS or 3B/2B, whichever you'd need more help at. He won't give you much offensively though.

Little is a bit harder to predict. He seems more like a catcher than Morrison though. Him not having any fielding scouting report is a bit alarming as you'd like a catcher to be somewhat of a fielder (minimum ~8-10 FLD). He doesn't have any comments about his hitting either which would probably suggest he won't be much of one.

Both of these prospects are limited by their potential. Morrison could become a decent backup infielder or a strong defensive minded player. Little probably won't be anything of use so I would side with keeping Morrison. If you specifically want to keep a catcher though, I would keep Little.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I've already taken some measures on the pitching staff by cutting Rodrigues and Matsuomo. The jury is still out on Contreras, I'll keep an eye on him through the rest of the season to see how he does. I tossed out a claim on a couple of those waivers. I decided to cut Little and work on training Morrison at 2B as well as C.

With Fry, I decided to keep him around for at least another season or two to see how he develops. I'm hoping I might be able to use him as a fireballing reliever since he has a decent velocity rating.

The problem with Sanchez is that I already have a what I feel is a fairly solid outfield corps and don't really have anyone to cut or demote, Cervantes is the only one I would consider but still seems like he has a bit more development that can be done compared to Sanchez, plus Cervantes seems to have a little more offensive capability which is something I like. I should probably only keep one of them, but I'd hate to throw either one away.
