Slugfest2015:
Pot12 pitchers are adequate for the lowest leagues, or as bullish fodder.
I used to have one of those, used as Spot Starter.
Two seasons ago he put up an incredible 100IP without allowinga single Hr!!!
A team record.

Before and after, he sucked

Christian Téllez was on my radar from the end of last season. He was one of those who's waiver fell after September 1st, so he spent the most time possible in free agency without the possibility of being claimed. That's strike one for me. Strike two is that he's a lefty and I really don't need another lefty :) Otherwise, he fits the criteria I look for in a starting pitcher prospect. Congrats on getting him for sure.

How did you know how many claims were put on the player please?

Also, is there any system, turn based etc. to free agents? Or is every player random luck of the draw?

One manager could put in 2 claims and win both while another could put in 30 claims and win none??

Not a complaint, just a question I'm curious about. Thanks.

With a laptop/desktop, you hover your mouse over the "Place Waiver Claim" button and a box pops up with the number of claims. For phones, or other mobile devices, I don't know exactly how that might work.

Supposed to be completely random, although sometimes it doesn't feel that way. Several people that I've heard from on this subject have "shot" a lower percentage than would be predicted by a completely random determination on claims. One could suppose that the ones getting the better end of those numbers are content and don't really have anything to say on the subject. I guess it comes down to the old "your mileage may vary" thing and one would hope these things would even out over time.

The fact that luck plays such a large part in the success or failure of each franchise has also been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

What about this guy, 17 years old an already 73 SI. Do you think it could get up to 110 when he's 25 or so?

Nah, not with just 11 potential. Highest I've seen an 11 pot reach is mid 90's.

11 pot x 8 skills = 88

the next marker would be 12x8=96

so...

his potential only amounts to a measly 88-95 si
