But its a definite perk if the pitcher can play well defensively. More double plays and force-outs at home. Less kicking the ball around. I think I read somewhere that the pitcher is involved in base stealing defense. The only stat I can see that looks relevant is arm. Kinda watching my guys to see if there is any correlation. (Like another thread said, base-stealing may be a wee bit low right now).
