Hey, my baseball knowledge isn't amazing, but I'd still keep him at 2/3, does he have a good OBP? If anything id keep him where he is or move up the order not down. Somebody with a better baseball education might well prove me wrong but that's what id do

Always keep your best hitter in the number 3 spot.

If he has any kind of power, then probably in the 3rd spot.

Some recent theories on baseball batting order construction differ a little from the old ways of thinking. Analysis suggests that you should put your highest OBP guy 1st, your best two overall hitters with power 2nd and 4th, the next best hitter after that 5th, then 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th.

The reason that the #3 hitter is not as important as the #1, 2, 4, or 5 hitters is because the #3 hitter comes to the plate with 2 outs and no one on base more often than anyone else. The chances of scoring in this situation are very low no matter who is batting.

Here some info and a batting order analysis tool for anyone interested:

And to answer the question directly, I would bat Arredondo 2nd.

145 years of baseball practice can't be wrong...we must do things the way we've always done them! :-)

Thanks everyone, sounds like 2/3 is his spot then. His obp matches up with that thinking too, probably more 3 than 2 given his hr numbers I think.

Looking forward to checking out those links too, thanks! I follow baseball a bit but maybe not enough for this game so I need to get better.
