Slight update based on last seasons results:

Hitters/Defense/Pitchers
Below Average 0 - 9
________None 8 - 11
Above Average 11 - 14
________Good 13 - 20

Development
___Poor 0 - 9
___None 8 - 11
___Good 11 - 14
Excellent 13 - 20

These could still be slightly off as I am running under the assumption that skills are fully revealed by the time a manager completes his fourth season. I am also a bit surprised I haven't been able to find a 12 skill with no reputation, as the rest of the skills seem to overlap a small amount.

3 part answer to that question.

1) Managers have a very small impact.

2) Managers reveal over time, but they don't improve over time. So that guy who is excellent at developing players but is only showing a 10, is actually performing at the level of a 16 (or whatever he actually is).

3) I would replace him.

So far the #'s are showing true.

Rock, my manager didn't hit 20 until during his 5th season, so I'm guessing the final reveal may take slightly longer than you anticipated when you made this thread. I also wonder if the excellent range is actually as large as you originally posted. Is it possible that those guys at 13 in excellent development might not be done?

Slight update based on last seasons results:

Hitters/Defense/Pitchers

Below Average 0 - 8
________None 8 - 11
Above Average 11 - 14
________Good 14 - 20

Development

___Poor 0 - 8
___None 8 - 11
___Good 11 - 14
Excellent 14 - 20

I feel fairly confident that these are the correct numbers now. It seems like it takes a bit longer than 4 seasons for the full reveal. By 5 full seasons your manager should be fully revealed.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this seemed like a good place. Do the managers skills reveal gradually throughout the year, or is there an update at the end of each season that reveals more information?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to fire my current manager, but I would like to have a better idea of just how good his player development will be before I do that.

Managers reveal about 1-3 times per season, but its estimated to take 5 full seasons to reveal their final, actual scores. But that's just their numbers that are revealed: their actual abilities stay true from day one. So if your manager turns out to have a 17 Development, he'll be developing players at that 17 skill from the beginning.

Excellent development guys are highly sought-after, but yeah I'd be looking to improve on those other skills.

I'd also like to point out that on more than one occasion steve felt that we were overestimating the importance of managers. These comments were made as recently as the change to managers to have them drop at any time rather than once a season. So i wouldn't overthinking it too much. It can probably get you to the end of development a week faster or win you 1-2 more games a season, but in general i would think that a lot of the teams performance is on the team you built and not the coach based on what limited information he has given us.
