i think that by adding player contracts...it could really add a level of depth to the game...

the style of...you just have a player until you release him...it sort of erks me a little...

part of the challenge of being a manager is when the contracts ran out...deciding who you can afford to bring back...and how much to give them...how long to take someone on...you want to make sure to sign a guy to the right length so that he is useful without his salary going up...you don't want to sign him too short and he improves and either you can't afford him and lose a key player...or his salary keeps going up and you can't afford to bring in others to support him...but you don't want to sign the wrong guy for too long...or his skills may diminish and then he become an over paid player that you can't get rid of...

i think if this was implemented...maybe a way to go about it would be that when you sign a free agent...he has a handful of options on his player profile page...each option being a set number of years this guy will be signed for and beside each number is how much money it'll cost you per season if you sign him on for that many years...

you'd have to create an AI or something to evaluate what these kinda players would want for salary...cause everyone's different...older players in their declining years will take less money in exchange with the stability of a long contract...where a young player who's only getting better...would only take a long contract if you offer him extra money to compensate for the potential lost raise he would receive by being a free agent again in a couple years...

as for the rookies you get...maybe give em a standard 2 year 200k contract that kicks in when they play at least 30 games in one season on the parent club...
