If this is checked for the appropriate LHS and RHS, he will exit the game before reaching his hook or pitch count limit if he is scheduled to face a batter from his opposite side, except for the first batter (the rules of baseball requires him to face at least one batter). For example, a LHS with this optional setting selected enters the game to face a left-handed batter. He has a hook of 2 and pitch count of 25. The opposing manager brings in a right-hitting pinch hitter and gets a single. The next scheduled batter hits from the left side, and the LHS stays in and records an out. The next scheduled batter also is left-handed. However, he gets pulled for a right-handed pinch hitter. Even though the LHS is under his hook and pitch count, he is pulled for a new reliever because he would face an opposite-side hitter, provided the new reliever who will replace him throws from the other hand. This option would make a counter move against pinch hitters, which is needed to get one step closer to the real world. Even beyond pinch hitting, you could raise pitch counts and hooks for the specialists knowing that they will only pitch against same-sided hitters (with the only possible exception being against the first batter if a pinch hitter is brought in).
