I have used something like this by regularly adjusting my pitching rotation with the spot starter. This is where I have had to make a little talent go a long way. I have often turned to using younger developing pitchers and / or older declining pitchers as starters, but they can present challenges because:
As long as there is struggle to find pitching talent in brokenbat (which I think it should be), I think the six-man rotation would be a useful alternate; particularly for those in the lower divisions searching for different ways to win. |

With all the off days the vast majority of our teams have due to the cup schedule, I don't see a reason for a six-man-rotation. To give a chance to young talent, I find it much more efficient to alternate the fourth or fifth starter - that way you can select which teams the new guy faces. |
