KrusherKev Joined: 05/05/2020 Posts: 35 Inactive | Take the much better defensive rated guy at key position, the better hitting guy will probably cost you way more than the one extra hit in like 6 or 7 games that he will give you. 50 hits in 1,000 at bats - probably 25 hits in 160 game season

texg8r Joined: 05/22/2020 Posts: 92 Pembroke Pines Gators IV.2 | I'm no expert in this here game, but I disagree with KushKev on this one. The better hitting SS that you mentioned has perfectly adequate defensive ratings, just not stellar. In that case I would have to think he would easily hold his own in the field and not be a liability. So then I would trade the "elite" fielding for more possible run production....even agreeing that said run production is marginal.

You can take one black hole in your batting lineup if you're getting elite defence with it, and that elite defence will help all your pitchers into the bargain. If you can't get the elite defender you make do with the other guy until you can find one.

ETrent Joined: 03/05/2018 Posts: 3 Inactive | and to follow on what Amalric7 said - I'd even take elite fielders at SS AND 2B whose bats were both dormant. I'd rather take a pair of .200 hitters with excellent defense over a couple of middle IF guys with good bats but no defense. Updated Monday, August 3 2020 @ 5:23:44 pm PDT |

Your going to give up a lot more hits with 14 Range at SS. Of course 16 range isn't a whole lot better. Updated Monday, August 3 2020 @ 5:32:21 pm PDT |

It's between an adequate defender and hitter compared to a good defender and inadequate hitter. I would go with the adequate player with fewer glaring deficiencies. |
